Delhi’s IGI airport is the 10th busiest airport in the world: Report

The Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in Delhi was among the top 10 busiest airports in the world, according to new rankings by the Airports Council International (ACI).

Catering to 72.2 million passengers in the year 2023, the IGI airport was ranked number 10 on the list.

Meanwhile, Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) held onto its crown as the world’s busiest passenger hub in 2023. With a staggering 104.65 million passengers traversing its terminals last year, ATL remains a crucial connecting point for air travel in the United States, especially for Delta Air Lines and its partners.

Dubai International Airport (DXB) rocketed up the rankings, claiming the number two spot with 87 million passengers. This massive hub in the United Arab Emirates also secured the top spot for most international passengers in 2023. Currently, the operations have been disrupted at the Dubai airport owing to the bad weather and flooding in the UAE.

Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), with 81.75 million passengers, ranked third on the list. DFW boasts its own zip code, spanning over 26 square miles with five terminals and ambitious sustainability goals, including achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2030.
