Security guards at CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, shot a woman early Thursday morning in what the agency described as a “security incident,” according to NBC News.
A CIA spokesperson confirmed to news agency Reuters, that security personnel “engaged a person” outside the agency’s main gates and said the individual is now in custody, however he declined to say whether gunfire struck the suspect or to disclose any other details.

The FBI is investigating, CBS reported.
The non-fatal shooting occurred on CIA property around 4 am ET. A person familiar with the matter told NBC’s Andrea Mitchell that the incident happened at the agency’s main entrance. Fairfax County Police said they responded to assist with traffic control and confirmed there are currently no road closures.
“There was a security incident that law enforcement responded to outside CIA Headquarters,” a CIA spokesperson said. “The main gate is currently closed, employees should seek alternative routes. Additional details will be made available as appropriate.”
The shooting came just hours after a separate deadly attack in Washington, DC, where two Israeli Embassy staff members — Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim — were shot and killed outside the Capital Jewish Museum.
Authorities have not found any evidence linking the two incidents.
The CIA has not released additional details, including the identity of the individual shot or the circumstances leading up to the incident.
