UK to publish plan to reduce immigration: PM Starmer

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced on Thursday that his government would unveil plans to reduce migration, which would include reforms to the country’s points-based entry system.

Starmer made the statement following the release of official data, which revealed that net migration to the UK exceeded initial projections in 2023, reaching a record 900,000. However, tougher visa rules introduced recently have begun to lower the number of arrivals.

“The previous government were running an open borders experiment,” he told reporters.
