With the US Presidential polls approaching, the race between Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democrats presumed nominee President Joe Biden is narrowing, and Trump is leading in Virginia as per a latest poll.

Former President Donald Trump has had successive failures in Virginia with a loss against Hillary Clinton in 2016 by more than 5 points, while he was again defeated by Joe Biden in 2020 by 10 points.

But in a latest poll carried out by Virginia Commonwealth University-Wilder School, Trump is shown to be leading in Virginia as the good luck charm for the Republican Presidential candidate might finally have the last laugh.

In a survey which consisted of 809 adults, Trump is projected to have a narrow margin over Biden by 39% to 36%.

The survey clearly suggests that the state is up for grabs and it will be a tough fight between Republicans and Democrats to win it in November polls.

The 66th Governor of Virginia, Douglas Wilder said, “I think the results show that Virginia is truly a ‘battleground state’ for the presidency,” as quoted by the Virginia Commonwealth University.

But according to The Washington Post, an earlier poll conducted by New York Times-Siena College, showed an upside down outcome with Biden leading in Virginia against Trump by three percentage points – 48% to 45%.

This poll was carried out between July 9-12.

Although both the polls have a significant common suggestion that there is a notable decline in Biden’s popularity over the period of time in Virginia and that the support of Black voters in the state is diminishing towards Democrats.

Wilder, who is also a Distinguished Professor, said “The drop by 20 points (to 46%) of Black Virginians since December, where 67% supported Biden, should be concerning relative to turnout affecting congressional races, in particular in competitive districts 7 and 2,” as reported by New York Post.
