Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli won the vote of confidence in the House of Representatives, securing parliamentary legitimacy for his continuing in the post.

Revealing the agreement reached between him and Nepali Congress Chief Sher Bahadur Deuba, Oli confirmed that he would be in the post for two years from the date of his appointment on July 15, and transfer the leadership of the coalition to Deuba till November 2027. Oli also said that he and Deuba had agreed to review the strengths and weaknesses of the Constitution and the complexities in implementing it.

Oli secured 188 votes in favour of the motion whereas 74 votes — from the Maoists, Rashtriya Prajatantra Party, and the Rashtriya Swatantra Party — against it.
