In a video posted on social media, Latifa introduced her family, her father, Mohammed, her mother, Salama and her brother, Rashid, to the world. Dressed in traditional Emirati attire with a modern twist, the character is designed to be warm and approachable, especially for children and families, encouraging dialogue around technology, AI, and digital services.
Mohammed is passionate about cars, robots, and football. He loves video games and dreams about inventing his own autonomous vehicle. Salama loves simplifying the complexity, believes AI should serve and ease human life, not replace it. And Rashid is tech-savvy with sharp insights on the latest innovations and building a digital future.
Latifa and her family will appear across social media platforms soon, highlighting the initiatives while encouraging safe and responsible digital behaviour. The virtual Emirati is part of a series of initiatives launched by Digital Dubai under the ‘Year of the Community’ announced by President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed AI Nahyan.
The names were chosen after an online vote, which saw the participation of nearly 14,000 people. Out of three names, Latifa emerged as the winner with 43 per cent of the votes, as Mira received 37 per cent, and Dubai got 20 per cent.
