President Joe Biden tested negative for COVID-19 and has returned to White House. It was on July 18 when the President suffered with mild symptoms of COVID and was immediately isolated. He was at his beach home in Delaware during the course of self-isolation.

President Biden went through a rapid antigen test which returned with a negative report and his doctor also announced the departure of all his symptoms. President boarded the Air Force 1 plane and left for Washington on Tuesday.

“President Biden has fully recovered from his infection, with no fever or abnormal vital signs throughout his illness, including stable oxygen levels and clear lungs,” said Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the Physician to the President.

During the quarantine, President Biden surprised everyone with a major announcement of his exit from the presidential race of the US elections 2024 and even endorsed his deputy in the office, Vice President Kamala Harris for the post against Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump.

With the loud cheers of ‘Ka-ma-la, Ka-ma-la’, the Democratic Party’s presumed nominee Kamala Harris kicked off her presidential campaign in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and spoke for around 17 minutes.

She touched upon the topics of gun violence, abortion laws, champion workers’ rights among others which was a stark departure from Trump’s stance on these critical issues.

Democrats have pinned their hopes on Kamala taking the charge of presidential bid after the exit of President Joe Biden, due to clouds concerning his age, health among others.

While several senior Democrats support Kamala Harris, Black Lives Matter called for a national virtual primary ahead of the Democratic National Convention in the first week of August.

Kamala Harris introduced herself as a seasoned prosecutor at the stage in Wisconsin, to draw a sharp contrast with Trump’s recent past being conflicted as he was convicted in several cases by courts.

In her first campaign rally in Milwaukee, Vice President Kamala Harris talked upon the significant issues of gun violence and abortion ban. Harris said that she’ll make sure that every American has the ability to cast their vote and make it counted in November.

Talking about the increasing gun violence and mass shooting incidents in the United States, Harris said that to help keep people of America safe from the “terror of gun violence”, she will ensure that the red flag law gets passed.

Among other promises on gun violence control, Harris said to have universal background checks in place and a complete ban on assault weapons.

Talking about the abortion ban, Harris targeted former President and Republican candidate Donald Trump saying she will "stop Donald Trump's extreme abortion bans, because we trust women to make decisions about their own body and not have their government tell them what to do.”

Harris added that as and when the Congress passes a law to restore reproductive freedoms, she would immediately sign it into a law.

Harris, who has now received backing from senior Democrats for her presidential bid, led the chants of “we are not going back” in direct reference to Trump’s policies.

Harris, while targeting Trump in her speech added, “When you read Donald Trump’s 2025 agenda, you will see he intends to cut Social Security and Medicare, give tax breaks to billionaires, end the Affordable Care Act, and more. We are not going back.”

Since President Joe Biden announced his exit from the US elections, the Democratic Party’s presumed nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris has been gaining grounds and support across her party line with Black women rallying around her.

In a report by Associated Press, an online campaign for Kamala Harris was started on Sunday with around 90,000 Black women attending it virtually and showing support to her is being considered as a positive beginning of her campaign trail.

The virtual discussion about Kamala Harris’ candidacy and issues was discussed just hours after President Biden announced his exit.

On Monday, a “Black Men for Harris” streaming event co-hosted by #WinWithBlackMen, a similar networking group for Black men, drew tens of thousands who pledged to support Kamala Harris, and featured speeches from Black male leaders from elected offices, in the civil rights community.

Former President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump told reporters on Tuesday that he will debate with Vice President and Democrats presumed nominee Kamala Harris.

Trump said that he will go ahead and debate with Kamala Harris, his new Democratic rival for the forthcoming presidential polls scheduled on November 5.

The former US president told reporters in a conference call that he was willing to do more than one debate with Kamala Harris in the run up to the polls.

Vice President Kamala Harris, who is presumed nominee for Democrats in the upcoming US presidential elections, has moved ahead of Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump by two percentage points, Reuters/Ipsos poll suggests.

The poll was conducted on Monday and Tuesday and it included the conclusion of the Republican National Convention on Thursday where Trump formally accepted the party’s nomination and Biden’s surprise announcement of exiting the presidential race.

Harris, whose campaign says she has secured the Democratic nomination, led Trump 44% to 42% in the national poll, a difference within the 3-percentage-point margin of error.

The poll was conducted online and it surveyed 1,241 US adults nationwide, including 1,018 registered voters.

When the reporters asked him how the President was feeling, Biden said he was “feeling well”.

During the isolation period, Biden announced his surprising move to exit the presidential race of 2024 US elections and instead endorse Vice President Kamala Harris.

In her first public appearance since Joe Biden exited the presidential race, Vice President Kamala Harris took a dig at Republican nominee Donald Trump like the attorney general she once was. 

"I took on perpetrators of all kinds. Predators who abused women, fraudsters who ripped off consumers, cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain,", she said addressing the campaign.

Addressing the country at the campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware, US Vice President and Democrats’ presumed nominee Kamala Harris talked about the abortion laws and gun violence which has disturbed the United States since many years.

Harris has promised in her speech to restore the abortion rights as she believed that the “government should not be telling a woman what to do with her body.”

World leaders have started reacting to the surprise move by President Joe Biden as he announced his exit from the 2024 presidential race. UK PM Keir Starmer praised Biden’s political career as “remarkable” and added that he looks forward to working with him for the remainder of his term.

PM Starmer, in a post on X, said “I know that, as he has done throughout his remarkable career, he will have made his decision based on what he believes is best for the American people.”

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also thanked President Biden for strong transatlantic ties, a trustworthy US-German relationship, and a strong and robust NATO.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed his appreciation for Biden and posted on X, “I’ve had the pleasure of knowing President Biden for many years, and I can attest that he is a remarkable individual driven by his love for his country. As President, he has been a reliable partner to Canada and a genuine friend. I extend my heartfelt thanks to President Biden and the First Lady for their dedication and friendship.”

In the first reaction toward the unprecedented yet expected changes in the US presidential elections, Republican nominee Donald Trump said that Joe Biden was “never qualified” to run for the presidency and remains “utterly unfit to serve”.

The former President added that “He (Biden) only managed to become President by perpetuating lies, relying on Fake News, and barely leaving his basement.”

Reiterating his allegations against Biden from the CNN debate last month, Trump stated that Biden was responsible for an “illegal migration”, “terrorism” among others.

Trump claimed that people close to Biden were aware of the fact that he shouldn’t contest the upcoming presidential election. Trump said, “All those around him, including his Doctor and the Media, knew that he wasn’t capable of being President, and he wasn’t.”

President Joe Biden withdrew from the election race for the President of the United States and endorsed his deputy, Vice President Kamala Harris for the Democratic Party's nominee. The calls for Biden to resign ahead of the Democratic National Convention in August was growing, and the demand even reached Biden's Democratic Party.

In a post on X, Biden said, 'I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term.'

While endorsing VP Harris, Biden said, 'Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump.'
