As the Gaza peace plan talks progress in Egypt, the family of a Nepali man who was one of the men taken hostage by Hamas on October 7, 2023, has released a video showing him in captivity. According to the family of Bipin Joshi, who was a student in Israel when he was abducted, the video was recovered and handed over to them by the Israel Defense Forces. The video is believed to have been shot in November 2023, nearly a month after he was abducted. Is Bipin Joshi still alive? While this was the first time Joshi has been seen since his abduction, there is no confirmation that he is still alive. In the 33-second-long video, Joshi can be seen introducing himself in English. The family of Bipin Joshi is now releasing footage recovered by the IDF and shared with them by intelligence officials. The video, estimated to have been filmed in November 2023, shows Bipin in Hamas captivity. This is the only sign of life received from Bipin Joshi since October… pic.twitter.com/4APlSVOGyx— Bring Them Home Now (@bringhomenow) October 8, 2025 “My name is Bipin Joshi. I am from Nepal. I am 23 years old. I came here to Israel 25 days ago. I came here for the “Learn and Earn program,” I am a student,” he says. “I work in agricultural farm[ing] in citrus and lemon farm,” he can be heard saying in the video. Joshi was abducted from Kibbutz Alumim on October 7, 2023, while ten of his friends were murdered by Hamas the same day. What Bipin Joshi's family said "Marking two years since the horrific massacre that plunged thousands of families into the circle of loss and grief, and froze time for our family and other hostages families, we have chosen to share a sign of life of our beloved son, Bipin,” the family of Joshi said in a statement. The families of the 48 hostages who are still in Hamas captivity in Gaza said they hope Joshi is still alive. “This sign of life found in Gaza, which we are sharing with you today, serves as an anchor and a confirmation of our steadfast belief that he is alive,” they said. “It is not easy for us to share it publicly, but we are in critical and historic days that will determine the fate of the 48 hostages, whether the living will return to their families and the deceased to a proper burial, or whether we will remain in pain without closure,” they added. Relatives and supporters of Israeli hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip carry posters with portraits of their loved ones during a protest demanding their immediate release and calling for a ceasefire, in Jerusalem, Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025, on the second anniversary of Hamas' cross-border attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, which sparked the ongoing war in Gaza. The President is a powerful and compassionate man, and we know that the fate of the hostages is close to his heart,” they said.
