Dubai International Airport, one of the busiest aviation hubs in the world, is witnessing a surge in passenger traffic as millions of expats are returning to the Emirates from their home countries ahead of the start of the new academic year on August 25.

290,000 passengers expected on August 15

According to Dubai Media Office, the Dubai International Airport is set to welcome over 3.6 million guests during the back-to-school peak between 13 and 25 August.

The daily average passenger arrival is expected to be around 280,000, and the busiest travel day is forecast to be Friday, 15 August, when traffic is expected to exceed 290,000.

Keeping in mind the rush of travellers in the coming days, Dubai Airports is coordinating with the oneDXB community—including airlines, regulatory authorities, and commercial partners to ensure a smooth travel experience during this peak period.

Another record year for Dubai

2025 is shaping up to be yet another record-setting year for Dubai Airport, which handled 46 million passengers in the first half of this year.

January 2025 was the busiest month ever for Dubai International Airport, which welcomed 8.5 million passengers in the first month of this year.

India topped the list of passengers arriving in Dubai in 2025 (5.9 million passengers), followed by Saudi Arabia, the UK, Pakistan, and the US.

Dubai International Airport, which saw 92.3 million passengers in 2024, is anticipating around 96 million travellers in 2025.
