Decapitation suspect caught on video singing ‘what’s love got to do with it’ after police shooting in California

One of the heads was reportedly placed on a counter, according to New York Post.

41-year-old Joseph Gerdvil was shot by police after killing his parents and dog then approaching the responding officer with a metal object in his hand in San Juan Capistrano, California.

Shortly after, Gerdvil was spotted on the street, covered in blood and acting erratically. When deputies approached him, he threw a heavy shovel at them and ignored orders to surrender.

The officers fired five shots at Gerdvil, with the first three seemingly having little effect. After the fourth shot, he collapsed to the ground, bleeding heavily.

Despite his injuries, Gerdvil’s behavior remained bizarre. As deputies worked to stop the bleeding, he began singing Tina Turner’s “What’s love got to do with it,” followed by Stevie Wonder’s “I just called to say I love you.”

At one point, he pleaded with the officers, saying, “Just finish me off… Put one in my head, please. I beg of you”, New York Post reported. 

Gerdvil was eventually transported to a hospital, where he was stabilised. He now faces two counts of homicide for the brutal murders of his parents.
