A male student fled an exam hall in China's Wuhan after a teacher asked him to remove his wig. But, there's a catch: He was impersonating a woman in an attempt to take the examination on behalf of another student, reported South China Morning Post (SCMP). The incident occurred on June 24, when the male student from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law tried to write an Advanced Accounting exam, in disguise. The man, who was reportedly commissioned online, wore a wig, headband, and face mask to pass as a woman. The invigilating teacher of the said exam reportedly became suspicious, commenting that the wig looked “too obvious”. The man immediately fled the exam venue when asked to remove the wig. Another student in the room recognised him and exposed his identity, the report added. University confirms attempted cheating, woman faces expulsion A day later, Zhongnan University confirmed the incident in a formal statement. It said that a female student surnamed Li had allegedly connected with the impersonator via an online platform and commissioned him to take the test on her behalf. The university did not confirm whether a payment was made. However, as per academic misconduct regulations, Li faces expulsion from her academic status. The identity of the male impersonator is still under investigation by the university and relevant authorities. The incident has triggered amusement online. One social media user wrote, "I can’t believe someone actually tried this.” Another remarked, What kind of person would agree to be a cross-dressing exam impostor? This is beyond ridiculous.” (With inputs from SCMP)
