According to CBC, which cited the Niagara Regional Police Service, Manpreet Singh is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for second-degree murder after the body of Amanpreet Saini, a North York resident, was found at Charles Daley Park on October 21.
Investigators believe Singh may have fled the country shortly after the incident.
“This is believed to have been a targeted attack with no ongoing threat to public safety,” police said in a statement.
While police have not confirmed Manpreet Singh’s nationality, multiple reports suggest he has ties to India and may have fled there after the incident. A Canada-wide arrest warrant remains in place, and investigators continue to probe the case.
The victim, Amanpreet Saini, is also believed to be of Indian origin. While police have not officially confirmed her heritage, the Niagara Regional Police said she was believed to be of South Asian descent.
Saini was found dead at Charles Daley Park in Lincoln on the morning of October 21. She was wearing a pink zip-up hoodie with a ‘Playboy’ logo, light blue jeans, a black shirt, grey socks, and gold hoop earrings. Police said her body bore “traumatic injuries,” and the case is being treated as a homicide.
