The 81-year-old US President Joe Biden has opened up for the first time in an interview with CBS News regarding his decision to opt out of the presidential bid and Republican candidate Donald Trump. In a one on one interview with CBS News chief election & campaign correspondent Robert Costa, Biden was asked to detail about his sudden move to exit the presidential race and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for the job and he clearly said that his Democratic colleagues in the House and Senate thought he would hurt them in the race. Biden said, “The polls we had showed that it was a neck-and-neck race, would have been down to the wire. But what happened was, a number of my Democratic colleagues in the House and Senate thought that I was gonna hurt them in the races. And I was concerned if I stayed in the race, that would be the topic. You'd be interviewing me about 'Why did Nancy Pelosi say…' 'Why did so-and-so…' And I thought it'd be a real distraction.” Following the debate debacle on CNN against former President Donald Trump, the demand within the Democrats members and supporters grew to replace Joe Biden as it was reportedly looking imminent that the former would outweigh the latter. In the mid July, Trump was hit in his ear by a bullet fired with an intention to assassinate him during a rally in Pennsylvania. Trump survived the assassination attempt and the electoral momentum shifted towards the Trump Campaign. In a few days, President Biden gave in to the demands and announced his departure from the US elections. Biden further alarmingly said that Trump would become a danger to American security if he wins. He said, “Mark my words: If he wins this nomination, I mean, excuse me, this election, watch what happens. It's a danger. He's a genuine danger to American security.”
