Misogynistic social media influencer Andrew Tate’s home was raided by armed police on Wednesday, as part of an ongoing investigation about trafficking, underage sex and related charges, according to a report by news agency Associated Press (AP).

Tate, 37, known for his controversial views, has faced allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse. Last year, he and his brother Tristan, 36, were charged with human trafficking, rape, and forming a criminal gang. While they deny these charges, the brothers remain under house arrest awaiting trial.

As per the report by AP, the latest raid, conducted by the Romanian anti-organised crime prosecuting unit, DIICOT , focused on allegations of human trafficking, sexual intercourse with a minor, money laundering, and more.

The agency stated that hearings would be held later at its headquarters.

Tate’s spokesperson, Mateea Petrescu, confirmed the raid but stated that the specific allegations were unclear and emphasised the presence of legal team to ensure the proper conduct of the proceedings, AP reported her as saying.

“During the entire criminal process, the investigated persons benefit from the procedural rights and guarantees provided by the Code of Criminal Procedure, as well as the presumption of innocence,” DIICOT noted in its statement, as per AP.

In July, a Romanian court overturned a previous ruling that allowed Tate to travel freely within the European Union. Tate, who has millions of followers on social media, has repeatedly claimed innocence and accused authorities of a political conspiracy against him.
