Bank Holiday on January 1: As we approach the new year soon, many citizens are curious about banking operations on January 1, 2025 (Wednesday).
Understanding bank holiday schedules is crucial for financial planning and managing personal transactions during the festive season.
It is essential to check with the local bank branch ahead of time for their holiday calendar or list to be informed and prepared for emergencies or long weekends.
It’s important to note that, in addition to the festive, regional, and national holidays, all banks (public and private) are closed on second Saturdays and Sundays.
Since there is not a clear direction from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) yet, banks in India are expected to be open on January 1, 2025, which falls on a Wednesday. The RBI has also not yet announced its official list of holidays for 2025.
As bank holidays vary by state, an employee from the State Bank of India (SBI) in West Bengal has confirmed that banks in that state will observe a statewide closure on New Year’s Day.
Additionally, banks across India will be open on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2024 (Tuesday), except for banks in Mizoram and Sikkim, which will be closed in observance of New Year’s Eve and the festivals of Lossong and Namsoong.
Notably, all banks provide access to their online websites and mobile banking applications, even during weekends and holidays, unless otherwise stated, with ATMs from any bank will also be available for cash withdrawals.
