Severe heatwave conditions are very likely over Gangetic West Bengal, parts of Odisha, Bihar, in isolated parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Jharkhand on Wednesday and Thursday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated in its forecast. Southern parts of India, including isolated pockets of Telangana, interior Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam will witness heatwave conditions during the next five days. Kerala, Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada will also witness similar conditions in the next two days, the forecast read. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe, Saurashtra, Kutch and Karnataka will witness hot and humid weather during the next five days. Nights in East Madhya Pradesh, north interior Karnataka are predicted to be warm over the next five days, according to the forecast. People in Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha and Bihar will also experience warm nights for the next two days. Heatwave to severeheat wave conditions prevailed in most parts over Gangetic West Bengal, in some parts of Odisha and Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha on Tuesday. According to the IMD, heatwave conditions have been prevailing over Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal since April 15th and 17th, respectively. The temperatures are likely to rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius over Central India and Gujarat state for the next five and two days, respectively.
