Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, leading a high-level delegation, paid an official visit to India from August 19 to 21. Following a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ibrahim on Tuesday, both nations agreed to elevate their relationship to a “comprehensive strategic partnership”.

A video capturing a lighter moment of Ibrahim, 77, who is on his first visit to India as the prime minister of Malaysia, has been shared by the official Instagram and X accounts of Delhi’s Taj Mahal Hotel. In the video, Ibrahim is seen singing the iconic Bollywood song Dost Dost Na Raha at a farewell event held at the hotel, where he also stayed.

The Instagram page shared the video with the caption, “It was a pleasure to witness Honorable Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim showcasing his love for Bollywood music during his farewell ceremony at the iconic Taj Mahal, New Delhi.” The video also featured the overlay text, “A delightful sight.”

Reacting to the video, an Instagram user said, “Beautiful ❤️ Music is the true universal language that unites people beyond caste, creed, gender and borders.” Another user wrote, “Kya baat hai!!!”

An X user, reacting to the same video posted on the platform by the hotel, wrote, “Woww!! The depth in his voice ❤️ Truly amazing!!!”

After the bilateral talks held at the Hyderabad House in the national capital, Modi, in his media statement, said, “We have decided that the India-Malaysia partnership will be elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership. We believe that there is still a lot of potential in economic cooperation. Bilateral trade and investment should be expanded.”

The two countries also inked a number of pacts, including on employment and repatriation of workers.
