Viral video shows superfast express train’s sleeper coach packed with passengers, sparks concern

The video shows more than two passengers sleeping on one seat.

In the last few months, several videos of trains overcrowded with commuters and depicting poor management of AC and sleeper coaches emerged on social media. A new video showing a packed sleeper coach of Shramjeevi SF Express from Delhi to Bihar got the internet talking on Tuesday.

The viral video opens with a passenger capturing the crowded sleeper coach from the upper berth. The video shows two to three passengers sleeping on one seat while several other commuters are standing in the aisle area.

Sharing the video, an X user, Vicky Kumar, tagged Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw and wrote, “I know this is early morning and no railway officer will provide resolution as they are sleeping. Train no. 12392 thousands of local passangers (passengers) ride on the train in sleeper class. Kindly take action or keep sleeping.”

Responding to the video, the official Railway Seva handle requested the user share the journey details. “We request you to please share the journey details (PNR/UTS No.) and Mobile No. with us preferably via DM. You may also raise your concern directly on http://railmadad.indianrailways.gov.in or dial 139 for speedy redressal,” the handle wrote.

The video accumulated several reactions, with one saying, “Early morning? When we travel in sleeping coach, it’s normal that people enter sleeping coaches early morning, who will be travelling to near stops. Most would have woken up and those who will be sleeping, continue. I never thought, one day it would be a propaganda.” Another user commented, “My sanghi bhakt friend said before elections that these overcrowded train gimmick is done by Congress and said that after modi 3.0 there will be no overcrowded in any trains.”

Last week, a video of passengers sleeping near the toilet area on the Chhattisgarh Express train sparked a chatter.
