On Saturday, India broke the 17-year-old drought by lifting the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy defeating South Africa. Cricket enthusiasts flocked to the streets to celebrate the historic win. Among many videos of celebrations that went viral on social media platforms, one showed Madhya Pradesh minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang sitting on the roof of a moving SUV and cheering for the Men in Blue. In the video, Sarang can be seen atop the moving SUV, holding an Indian flag. His aides are seen standing on the footpeg of the SUV. That is not all, there is a man with a professional camera too, on the roof of the vehicle, possibly photographing or recording the stunt. Dhol beats can also be heard in the video. Many users slammed the minister for pulling off such a stunt. Reacting to it, a user wrote, “Is this minister playing a game or creating a drama? These people just know how to show off.” Another user commented, “If the minister does such a thing and the common man does it, what else do you expect from common people.” “An FIR would have been registered, had it been someone else pulling off this stunt,” a third user reacted. India, in the final match, set a target of 177 runs and restricted South Africa to 169/8 in 20 overs in a nail-biting match. Jasprit Bumrah became the ‘Player of the Series.’ Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, announced their retirement from T20 internationals shortly after the win.
