Jonas, a Swedish tourist and travel vlogger, had set out to explore Delhi. However, he had an unsettling experience with his Uber Intercity ride. Sharing details of the incident, Jonas alleged that the Uber driver staged a fake breakdown and demanded cash for supposed "repairs". When Jonas refused to pay, the driver left him stranded on a highway under the scorching Delhi sun. Recounting the experience, Jonas also shared that the ride seemed normal until the driver abruptly stopped the car on a busy road, claiming it had broken down. In the caption of the Instagram reel he posted, capturing the cab, Jonas explained that he immediately reached out to Uber for help. While the company did respond, their solution only added to his frustration. “They sorted me out with not one, not two, but three replacement rides, all cancelled on me. I assume as I was on the highway,” he wrote. Though he eventually made it back safely, Jonas said it was without any assistance from Uber. "Got home all well no thanks to Uber, with another story to tell," he said in the video. Our specialised team has investigated and taken appropriate action.” Several social media users reacted to the video, sharing similar incidents. "So sorry, Sir. We Indians are also facing this situation with these online taxi apps," a user wrote. "Sincere apologies on the drivers behalf.. there is no excuse to behave like this," another user commented. "Uber really need to get some cars and drivers on their payroll instead of relying on freelancers. These freelancers often demand extra money and don't accept rides," a third user reacted.
