A chilling video of a Rottweiler attacking a cobra quickly went viral on social media, sparking a heated debate. The Instagram reel captures a tense encounter between the pet dog and the snake in a garden.
The video begins with the owner entering the garden and recording as the dog aggressively barks at the reptile. Despite the owner’s attempts to calm the dog, it does not relent but goes on to swiftly overpower the snake and tear it apart in a matter of seconds. As the footage continues, the snake’s head and tail can be seen separated. The Rottweiler then picks up the snake’s head in its mouth and rips it further.
“Rottweiler vs Cobra,” the caption read.

While garnering over 57 million views and nearly 2 million likes, the video has ignited a debate. Many social media users have expressed concern that the incident could have been fatal for the dog, while others called for the cobra to be saved. “Train your dog , he doesn’t even follow your command,” a user wrote.
“If you google up, cobra family doesn’t cause the most death. They mostly warn you or dry bite you. They are one of the intelligent & wisest snake species and eat vipers for breakfast ( vipers that cause most death). Hence you see a cobra, don’t kill it,” another user commented.
“This is so wrong!…you can call the rescue team …and save the cobra,” a third user reacted. “Very brave dog,” a fourth user chimed in.
Last week, a five-year-old Rottweiler died in Kerala’s Thrissur after saving its owner and family from an Indian cobra. According to Manorama, the snake bit the dog during the attack.
