An undated video from a crowded train showing a passenger readying a hammock-style seat to make room for himself has gone viral.
In the video, viewers witnessed the person weaving a rope connecting two berths with expertise to create a makeshift seat or sleeping area. We have seen passengers laying bedsheets on the floor to be comfortable, but this creative approach is novel.
The video was posted on Instagram by Jist News. The caption of the post read, “A viral video on social media shows a rope cot crafted between two train berths in a packed compartment, with a passenger climbing onto this makeshift seat. Though it’s unclear when or where it was recorded, the clip has sparked mixed reactions—some praise the creativity, while others urge railways to improve arrangements.”

Many Instagram users appreciated the passenger’s unique effort while some condemned the state of Indian trains.
One user wrote, “Important ye nahi hai ki bhai ne hammock banaaya. Important ye hai ki bhai itni rope saath rakhta hai ki hammock banaaye. Ye ya to genius hai ya serial killer (What is important is that he made a hammock, that he has kept such a big rope. He’s either a genius or a serial killer.) Or both.” Another user commented, “Krte rehiye.. vande Bharat.. vande Bharat… Aluhhaa vande Bharat,” referring to the viral Panchayat series meme.
A third user wrote, “India is not for beginners.”
