Everyone across the country is trying to help the people of Chennai in whichever way they can, even if it means sharing a relief information post on social media. Joining in is restaurant-finder and delivery application Zomato, which has come up with a customised offer called 'Meal for Flood Relief'. In this, if you buy a meal for the people in Chennai, Zomato will add one to it and send meal for two in areas where people are stranded because of heavy downpour. The prices are economic. A meal for two is for Rs 100 and meal for four is priced at Rs 400. A lot of restaurants are supporting the initiative, including Adyar Ananda Bhavan, Prems Graama Bhojanam, Kolapasi, Dindigul Thalappakati, Nawab Sheikh Biryani, Meat and Eat, and more. Deepinder Goyal, Founder and CEO of Zomato, took to Twitter to share the offer and immediately after the twitterati were abuzz with speculation. Help get food to those affected by #ChennaiRains. We buy a meal for each one you buy here: pic.twitter.com/956WZg6GuJ — Deepinder Goyal (@deepigoyal) December 2, 2015 Though, there were some who consider it as a move to make money. Zomato be like order a pizza for yourself and we'll throw 1 garlic breadstick to someone swimming in flood. — अंकित जैन (@indiantweeter) December 2, 2015 But Goyal quickly responded with the quip: We are NOT making any money off this. We have a large platform and we WILL use it to help when needed. So fuck the haters and their abuse. — Deepinder Goyal (@deepigoyal) December 2, 2015 However, there are many who think of the initiative as a good move to ensure people receive food in flood-affected areas given the company's wide network of delivery. @deepigoyal @TwitterIndia @the_hindu Just placed an order on that link. Great effort @Zomato Ignore the haters, they are just being idiots. — Aravind Thodupunoori (@aravindt_gmf) December 2, 2015 #Chennaifloodrelief zomato is helping.
