A jaw-dropping video showing a man calmly holding a massive king cobra with his bare hands has taken social media by storm.
The clip, which runs for just 11 seconds, was shared by Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Parveen Kaswan on X. Known for sharing fascinating wildlife content, Kaswan used the video to highlight the sheer scale of the snake and asked, “If you ever wondered about the real size of King cobra. Do you know where it is found in India. And what to do when you see one.”
The video quickly gained traction, amassing over 90,000 views and triggering a flood of reactions ranging from awe to terror.

One user wrote, “When I see a king cobra, I’m going to run the other way. Simple as that.” Another chimed in with some practical advice: “King cobras can reach 18 ft. Found in Western Ghats, Northeast, Odisha. See one? Stay calm, back away, and call forest dept, not for selfies!”
Others shared personal experiences and admiration for the reptile’s powerful presence. “I have seen real cobra in the wild – thick dark black colour and the stripes, the hiss was scary, didn’t sleep well that night,” one person wrote. Another said, “I think the word majestic is for this beautiful creature only.”
Though the video doesn’t specify where it was filmed, king cobras are native to India’s dense forests, especially in the Western Ghats, northeastern states, and parts of Odisha.
Said to be the longest venomous snake on the planet, the king cobra can grow up to 18 feet and carries a deadly neurotoxic venom that is strong enough to take down an elephant.
This isn’t the first time a king cobra has captured online attention this week. Just days ago, a Kerala forest officer went viral for fearlessly rescuing a large cobra from a stream in Thiruvananthapuram’s Peppara region.
