Ever thought of counting hair on your head? Well, someone not only thought about it—but actually did it. A video going viral on Instagram shows a man who spent five whole days counting every single hair on his head. And while he claims to be the first person ever to attempt such a thing, he still didn’t get a Guinness World Record.
The man, who goes by the Instagram handle CountryMan, decided to shave his head and count every strand of hair. First, he wet his hair, then shaved it off completely using a trimmer. He carefully collected all the fallen hair and began counting. To keep track, he used stones as a makeshift counting tool. For every thousand hairs, he placed a stone in a plate to help tally the final number.
On day two, he realised that no one had seemingly ever attempted something like this before. Inspired, he sent emails to both the Limca Book of Records and Guinness World Records and started the count all over again. According to him, he spent around 10 to 12 hours a day on this mission.
By day five, he finally heard back. The Limca Book of Records turned down his request, while Guinness World Records asked for $1,200 (Rs 1,03,000, approximately) to consider his entry. Not willing to shell out the money, he dropped the idea of making a world record.
In the end, he counted 91 stones, which, according to his math, meant 91,300 hairs on his head.

The video has since gone viral, racking up over 14 million views, and social media users are loving the sheer absurdity (and dedication) of it all. One viewer commented, “Feeling so good after watching this. Roz jo 20 baal gir rahe hain, uska dukha kam hua. 90k hain apne paas (The pain of losing 20 hairs every day has lessened — I’ve got 90,000 left after all).”

Even brands and influencers joined in. Tinder India commented using the classic meme template, “He must be talking to other girls. Him:”

Prafull Billore, founder of MBA Chaiwala, dropped a string of laughing emojis.
