Man calmly sips tea in middle of busy Bengaluru road; police share viral video after arrest
The video shows the man completely unfazed as vehicles zipped past him, including autos and bikes, while he enjoyed his tea on his swivel chair.

In a bizarre and now-viral incident from Bengaluru, a man was arrested after a video surfaced showing him calmly sipping tea, seated on a chair, in the middle of a bustling road. The footage, believed to be filmed on April 12 along a major city artery, captured the man completely unfazed as vehicles zipped past him, including autos and bikes, while he sipped his tea.
Once the video began circulating widely on social media, Bengaluru City Police acted quickly. Officers from the SJ Park police station tracked him down and took him into custody. He is now facing legal action, though the exact charges haven’t been shared by the police.
Bengaluru City Police addressed the incident on X, and shared the video of the incident and the man’s arrest, along with a warning. “Taking tea time to the traffic line will brew you a hefty fine, not fame!!! BEWARE BCP is watching you,” said the X post.

The post stirred a flood of reactions online. One user urged the police to take a tougher stance, “Sir! Please don’t give him the station bail and release him in a few hours. Set an example punish him and put him behind bars.” Another person commented, “What is point of blurring the face? When the actual video has his face clearly visible.”
A third user wrote, “Good initiative.. this should instill fear of law.”
This isn’t the only recent instance of offbeat behaviour landing people in legal trouble in Karnataka. Just days ago, Bigg Boss Kannada participants Vinay Gowda and Rajath Kishan were arrested after a video emerged showing them brandishing a machete. The footage prompted police to act under the Arms Act, leading to their detention under Section 25(1B)(B) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.
