While Goa is known for its beaches and vibrant nightlife, locals are making it clear that the state’s cleanliness is not compromised. A video has emerged on social media showing a group of young tourists being confronted by locals after allegedly throwing liquor bottles on the roadside while driving around the city.

According to eyewitnesses, the group consumed alcohol inside their vehicle and then smashed the empty bottles onto the street. Their reckless behaviour angered several local residents, who quickly intervened, stopping the vehicle and confronting the offenders, The Free Press Journal reported.

In the viral video, a local woman can be heard asking the tourists to pick up the shards of glass they had scattered. “Go, pick up the bottle you smashed,” she said in Hindi. The situation escalated as the two young tourists initially argued with the crowd. However, the locals stood their ground and insisted the tourists pick up the littered bottle.

As the video progresses, the tourists were made to step out of the car and collect the broken glass from the roadside. Sharing the video, an X user wrote, “Very proud by what the Goa locals did here – not only did they get a deserving yelling but were made to pick up the pieces of the bottles they were smashing on side of the road. A few slaps would have been nice too! Should be done in HP too.”

The video quickly gained engagement on X, with several social media applauding the locals for taking action against reckless tourists.

“This is what keeps the places clean. If they start doing this in snow capped mountain places where you’d see constant vimal packets and polythenes you will soon find the place clean without cleaning efforts. Shame them and make them pick up the trash,” a user wrote.

“We need this treatment in himachal and Uttarakhand,” another user commented.
