Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan’s son is finally here! And Twitterati’s already weighing in on the name

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan are finally parents and it’s a boy! The duo have already named their newborn Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi. Thankfully, it’s not Saifeena as Kareena had joked a few weeks back! Though, there’s a good chance that might just end up being the kids nickname for paparazzi. The mother and the child are in good health and the whole film industry is celebrating the much-awaited birth.

In a statement released to the media, Saif said, “We are very pleased to share with you all the wonderful news about the birth of our son : Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi, on the 20th of December 2016,” and Kareena’s father Randhir Kapoor also shared his joy at becoming a grandfather. “We are very happy. The baby is fine and so is Kareena. All of us are absolutely delighted,” he said.

While we are not sure what inspired the two to name their son Taimur, though, a quick Google search reveals that it essentially means ‘brave king’. Historically, Taimur Shah was the successor of Ahmad Shah Durrani, who was in the service of Iranian ruler Nadir Shah.

As soon as the news reached Indian Twitterati, people couldn’t stop tripping on the name. While some suggested names they though were ‘better’, some just referred to king Taimur, who isn’t exactly remembered too fondly by historians.
