The Indian Premier League (IPL) may have got its ultimate fan favourite this season, a four-legged AI-powered robotic dog that’s quickly going viral on social media, captivating both players and cricket enthusiasts.

This adorable high-tech pup made its debut in the IPL 2025 season, capturing attention and hearts from the moment it hit the field. Following the MI vs CSK clash at Wankhede Stadium, Hardik Pandya was spotted sharing a lighthearted moment with Mumbai Indians’ owner Akash Ambani on Sunday night. The MI captain was seen trying out the IPL robot dog in Mumbai.

In a now-viral video, Pandya is seen receiving instructions from Ambani on how to operate the robot, which is controlled by a remote. In a playful twist, the star cricketer accidentally pressed a button that caused the robot to lunge toward Ambani. Startled, he quickly jumped back. As the video progresses, one can see Pandya bursting into laughter as he playfully teased Ambani.

With over four lakh views, the video left many social media users in stitches. “Men see men smile men happy. We are this simple. Just give us a remote toy and we are happy,” a user wrote. “Hardik’s happiness after controlling it (Laughing emojis),” another user commented.

Named Champak, the IPL robot dog can respond to several voice commands and draw a heart shape with its front limbs, the official website of the Olympics said. It can also run and jump on command.

Introducing Champak to the IPL, former New Zealand cricketer and commentator, Danny Morrison said, “It can walk, it can run, it can greet, but most importantly, this is pet vision. It was first activated during the IPL match between the Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Capitals on April 13.
