‘This is scary’: Gurugram man apprehends Rapido driver who sent inappropriate messages to his wife, company responds as video triggers outrage
In the video, Abhimanyu explains that his wife had messaged the driver to ask if he had arrived at the pickup location. Instead of responding appropriately, the driver sent her his contact number and offered to come to her residence.

A man from Gurugram, Haryana, recently confronted and apprehended a Rapido driver who allegedly sent inappropriate messages to his wife while she was waiting for her ride. The man, identified as Abhimanyu, shared a video of the confrontation on Instagram, exposing the driver’s misconduct.
In his post, Abhimanyu also revealed that the accused had been operating under someone else’s Rapido ID, raising serious safety concerns for women. At the beginning of the video, Abhimanyu explains that his wife had messaged the driver to ask if he had arrived at the pickup location. Instead of responding appropriately, the driver sent her his contact number and offered to come to her residence.
As the video progresses, the driver is seen pleading with Abhimanyu to let him go. Abhimanyu also explains that, according to the driver, there was a misunderstanding: the driver claimed he misinterpreted the message from Abhimanyu’s wife. He allegedly took her question as a hint to invite him to her place.
Tagging Rapido in his post, Abhimanyu slammed the company over the accountability of their drivers. “How is all this happening ? What’s your accountability? How is a driver running your app with someone else’s ID ? We still haven’t received any resolution from your end. Not even a call!!!” he wrote in the caption.

The video quickly went viral, sparking widespread outrage against the driver.
Many social media users praised Abhimanyu for confronting the accused and bringing attention to the important issue of women’s safety. “I am scared.. i can only imagine what your wife is feeling right now. I am glad that you handled the situation very well,” a user wrote. “Woman safety has always been joke in our country. Surprised to see Rapido just watched it from the fence. This type of actions should be reported in the police station by Rapido authorities,” another user commented.
Rapido responded to the video, informing the driver and others involved have been “barred” from the platform. “After a thorough review, both captains involved have been permanently barred from our platform. We take misconduct very seriously and are using your feedback to strengthen captain training and monitoring to prevent such incidents in the future,” the company wrote.
“Your safety and trust are our top priorities, and we remain committed to providing a secure and respectful experience on our platform,” it said in the comment.
