A heart-touching video from Karnataka’s Nandi Hills has emerged on Instagram, showing an elderly man dressed as Mahatma Gandhi braving the biting cold, wrapped in nothing more than a simple dhoti, a vest, and a shawl. The video has struck a chord with several users, with many applauding the man’s resilience.
The unidentified man can be seen barefoot, calmly standing through the fog, channelling the look and demeanour of the Father of the Nation. The camera pans to his face, showing him shivering amidst the cold while holding his stick. As the video progresses, a traveller can be seen donating money into his bucket, leaving the man smiling.

Many users hailed his grit, urging travellers to show kindness to artistes like these. “If we want to, we can make a difference in his life! I plan to visit him soon, create a reel, and share his story so you can all lend a helping hand,” a user wrote. “Someone’s father, Someone’s husband. i wish his family appreciate his struggle,” another user commented.
According to a user who interacted with the elderly man, he visits Nandi Hills every day. The user shared that the man’s family comprises of his wife and two grandchildren, a boy and girl, whom he now cares for. When asked why he endures the cold, the aching knees, and the harsh winds at his age, the man revealed that his daughter is no more, and he has no choice but to work for the sake of her children. His wife waits for him at home, he said, adding that he arrives at the spot early in the morning and leaves by 3 PM each day.
