With over 67,000 views on X, the video accumulated several reactions from social media users. “That looks scary but it poses little or no hazard,” wrote a user. “hauz khas metro station is also on high alert no safety precautions as it’s convert into a food court instead of metro station,” another user commented.
Another netizen questioned about the back-to-back fire outbreaks being reported of late.
After the video went viral, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) issued a clarification that the “affected pantograph” was put out of service and the train resumed its journey five minutes later.
“The extant incident was the case of pantograph flashing which occurs at times due to some external/foreign material getting stuck between OHE and pantograph and poses no safety threat or hazard to passengers. However, the exact cause will be further investigated in this case,” DMRC said.
“The affected pantograph was immediately put out of service and the train continued its onward journey as usual after around 5 minutes of troubleshooting with remaining pantographs of the train,” it added.
