Mother-child reunions are always heartwarming, but the recent reunion of a missing son and his mother after 22 years has caught the internet’s attention. A video has emerged online that shows a mother breaking down in tears after she reunites with her now-monk son.

According to the tweet shared by a user on X, the son, Pinku, went missing at the age of 11 from his Delhi home in 2002 after his mother yelled at him.

Cut to 2024, Pinku was spotted as a monk in the Amethi’s Kharauli village. The man can be seen donning the traditional attire of an ascetic, singing, and playing the sarangi. After the villagers recognised and informed his parents, Pinku took alms from his mother and left the village.

Sharing the video of the reunion, the user wrote in Hindi “The family members feared that perhaps he was no longer alive. Or he might have been a victim of an accident. Now the same child has returned to his home after 22 years. By becoming a yogi.”

“He is narrating the folk tale of Gopichand and Raja Bharthari. Guru is telling the glory of Gorakhnath. Bharthari is a historical folk tale. It is sung in different ways throughout North India. This folklore is divided into two parts. King Bharthari is a recluse. The conflict between Yoga-Bhog and compassion is evident in this saga,” explained the user.
