Delhi Assembly Elections: Vikaspuri polling booth showcases ‘Chandrayaan’ theme, ‘astronaut’ volunteers welcome voters
Voting in all 70 Delhi Assembly seats began on Wednesday morning. Counting of votes is scheduled for February 8.

As Delhiites went to the polls for the Delhi Assembly election on Wednesday, February 5, voters at a booth in Vikaspuri were in for a cosmic surprise. Election volunteers dressed as astronauts welcomed them, bringing a space-age feel to the democratic process.
This out-of-the-world experience was part of a themed initiative called “Chandrayaan se Chunav tak Bharat ki Udaan” (India’s flight from Chandrayaan to elections). The booth also featured telescopes and Virtual Reality (VR) setups, allowing voters to immerse themselves in an interstellar experience before casting their ballots.

In a follow up post on X, ANI shared what Dr Nitin Shakya, Vikaspuri sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) and returning officer, said about the theme: “Theme of this polling station is ‘Chandrayaan se chunav tak’ and we have showcased models of Chandrayaan and PSLV which have been made by students of Rajdhani College, Shivaji College and Bharti College. Volunteers have dressed up as astronauts to assist voters. We have even installed a bioscope for people to relive old memories and we have even compared a bioscope with a telescope. People are very happy with the unique arrangements here,” he said.
