Rajani Jain, widely known as ‘Chatori Rajani’ in the food content space, recently shared an emotional video on Instagram, marking one month since she lost her 17-year-old son in a road accident.

The video offers a glimpse into the farewell gathering held in the memory of Taran Jain, where family, friends, teachers, and well-wishers came together to honour his life.

Fighting back tears, Rajani addressed the gathering, speaking about her son with a mix of sorrow and love. At one point, she sang a few lines from Luka Chuppi, the soulful song from Rang De Basanti, in his remembrance. Her husband, Sangeet Jain, stood by her side, struggling to contain his emotions.

Rajani shared the video along with a long caption, “It has been a full month today since our beloved Taran left us. From the very first day, everyone kept saying just one thing ~ that he hasn’t really gone anywhere and that his soul would remain with us for the next twelve days. So, we tried to give him a farewell party while he was still here, where all his friends, teachers, and loved ones could express how much they love him. Mom and Dad are bidding you farewell with a smile wearing your favourite shirt, watch, beads bracelet and shoes.”

“I’m sure most of you must be thinking, it’s a huge loss, and we are here celebrating, doing a farewell party for him. But hum wohi kar rahe hain jo humare bachche ko bohot pasand tha — dost, music, flowers, and sab khush ho (We are only doing what our son used to love – friends, music, flowers and everyone stays happy),” she can be heard saying during the gathering.

The video went viral and people reacted to the video in the comments. “Hats off to you parents for being so strong,” wrote a user.

Another user commented, “Everyone has a completely different way of dealing with grief, loss and pain. It’s absolutely stupid of people to then compare or question what a grieving parent wants to do in memory of their child. Nahi samajh aa raha ki woh kaise yeh sab kar paa rahi hai, toh bina samjhe just skip the goddamn reel instead of wasting your time and energy commenting absolute nonsense.”
