A software engineer based in Bengaluru garnered attention on social media after celebrating his third anniversary at Google with an engaging post. On X, Raj Vikramaditya—popular as Striver— listed down the pros and cons of working at the tech giant, which garnered over 1,04,000 views on the platform.

In his post, Vikramaditya highlighted the “incredible” work-life balance, which is a hot discussion on social media. He shared that employees can explore food, gym, trips, spa, and parties. From codebase to perks, he listed several pros of working with Google.

“The codebase: Once you dive into it, you’re in awe of the quality, design, and overall architecture. Surrounded by geniuses: Being around such talent pushes you to stay sharp and constantly improve. Impact: The work here reaches millions (or even billions). Extra perks: On-call pay, peer bonuses, spot bonuses—there’s always something extra,” he wrote.

In the cons list, the techie mentioned the “limited scope” as many employees don’t get the opportunity to work on “end-to-end features.” According to him, employees have to get several approvals to process a project. “Too many approvals: Processes can feel slow, but at this scale, multiple layers of approval are necessary to avoid risks like lawsuits. Limited scope: Most teams don’t get to work on end-to-end features. Much of the infrastructure is pre-built, so unless you’re on a core team, the learning curve might not be as steep,” he wrote.
