In an X post, a 20-year-old college student interning in Bengaluru shared videos of a heated argument with an auto-rickshaw driver. In the video, the driver can be seen and heard demanding Rs 580 and the student asking the driver to show the amount he is demanding on the booking app. The student’s post alleging the driver harassed and used racial slurs, has gone viral.

The student also claimed that the auto-rickshaw driver threatened him with an attack outside his office. “Got harassed and threatened by a Bengaluru auto driver. He has told me that he will beat me up outside my office whenever I go. And said racial slurs. He was asking for 200rs extra out of nowhere. Just a 20 year college student returning back from my internship,” the post read.

Sharing the screenshot of the payment, the youth further claimed that he had to pay Rs 500 to the driver as he called his drunk aides. “Had to pay him 500rs (400cash + 100upi) instead of 380rs(as shown on app) so he leaves me and my friend alone as he called two of his drunk friends who were going to beat us. Continuously calling us slurs,” he wrote in a subsequent X post.

Several users shared similar experiences in the comment section. “Same thing happened with my sister. Had to pay extra Rs.600 to avoid any future troubles,” a user wrote. “Happened with me last year. One of the few times I have ever taken a tuktuk. The guy started demanding for Rs.250 over what the app showed,” another user commented.

“A similar incident happened with me last year. Fare was 98 and auto driver demanded 150. I repeat, he demanded and not requested. He fought with me for 30 whole minutes. I began recording him, and just like in your video, he threatened me to drop where he picked me up,” a third user said.
