A Bengaluru autorickshaw driver has stunned the internet with his tech literacy, garnering a commendation from Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and a shoutout from the official handle of MyGovIndia. The autorickshaw driver is winning hearts for accepting payments via his smartwatch.

In the viral picture, the man can be seen displaying the payment scanner on his smartwatch. Sharing the picture, Vaishnaw wrote, “UPI’s swag. Payments made super easy.”

Several users flocked to the comment section highlighting how UPI has made digital payments hassle-free. A user wrote, “UPI swag is everywhere in India and Indeed made payments super easy.” Another user commented, “This should be more promoted , remove all taxes & make it more consumer friendly , it is a game changer.”

“Digital growth of UPI payments in India to the next level to the world.. who critised india now they should see this picture…i think they wil understand,” a third user wrote.

Launched by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) in 2016, UPI allows users to link their bank accounts through several mobile applications like PhonePe, Google Pay, and others for online transactions. Users can send or receive money or scan a quick response (QR) code to pay an individual, a merchant, or a service provider to shop, and now pay bills or authorise payments.
