A heartwarming story of an auto-rickshaw driver in Bengaluru is winning hearts on the Internet. In the now-viral post, an X user, Apoorva, shared about her unexpected and inspiring encounter with the driver who was wearing a jacket from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B), which is deemed one of India’s most prestigious institutions.

During her trip, Apoorva shared a conversation with the driver, and what she discovered moved her. The driver shared that he works full-time in the IIM-B hostel mess and that the jacket was a heartfelt gift from students who appreciated his dedication and service. To further support his family, he also drives an auto-rickshaw part-time.

“My auto driver was wearing an IIM-B jacket. Of course, curious me had a little chat with him. He mentioned he works in the IIM-B hostel mess and that the students gifted him the jacket. Auto driving is his part-time job,” Apoorva wrote in her post.

“Iimb charges lakhs for each of their courses way beyond the fees what a college usually charges.. and yet their help staff have to work double jobs to support their families? We need to know the salary structure and ensure fair payment atleast,” a third user reacted.

Last year, a video of an auto-rickshaw driver in Bengaluru went viral for installing an office swivel chair as his driver’s seat. In another incident, a Bengaluru auto-rickshaw driver was hailed, introducing a unique twist on contactless payment by presenting a QR code to a passenger using his smart watch. The video was shared by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
