As torrential rain continues to lash several parts of Gujarat, a video of a father and a son purportedly rejoicing at the arrival of the rain in the semi-arid region of Kutch is stealing hearts on social media.
The viral clip shows an older man wearing a dhoti and a vest and a younger man who is purportedly his son dancing in a field. The video also captures a flood-like situation in the area across the horizon.
Sharing the video, an X user wrote, “The father and son demonstrated their joy by performing a traditional dance in a field, as the semi-arid region of Kutch experienced substantial rainfall.”

Shared on July 23, the video garnered over 17,90,000 views as social media users lauded the duo. Reacting to it, a user wrote, “Genuine. Sheer bliss. Gives a sense of joy just watching them.” Another user commented, “Descendants of Bhuvan family from Lagaan .”
“Happy to see their boundless expression of joys on rain!” a third user reacted.
Nine people were killed and hundreds were shifted to safety on Wednesday as torrential rain continued to lash various parts of Gujarat. According to a government statement, while three people died at Devbhumi Dwarka, two each died at Banaskantha and Kutch, and one each at Rajkot and Surat.
On Wednesday, hundreds of people were evacuated after swollen rivers and overflowing dams cut off several villages and inundated low-lying areas in the state.
