It’s known fact that The Simpsons and Donald Trump have a long association and it’s kind of bittersweet. After all, the hit animated show predicated his win, long before he decided to run for the presidential elections. However, on Friday (November 3), when the popular satire show released a new clip it took a jibe at the POTUS and extended its support to the people of Puerto Rico who are still fighting to recover from the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.

The 1-minute 29-second clip is an attack on Trump for his lack of “apathy” and insensitiveness towards the people of the island. Moe Szyslak, the cranky bartender from The Simpsons, called out to San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz and said he knows how it feels when someone throws paper towels at them, referring to Trump’s infamous gesture when he met the hurricane victims in September during a visit that lasted only a few hours.

In the clip, he says, “In my case, it was flaming toilet paper but the principal is the same,” adding, “It’s humiliating.” Further, ordering Barney to settle the bill, he notified viewers that a total of $25,000 has been raised so far. Also, urging more people to come forward and donate as “these people still don’t have water”, he shared links where people can donate.

This is not the first time The Simpsons extended their support for people of Puerto Rico highlighting their pain. During the Season 29 premiere of the show, a photo appeared showing the animated characters holding the Puerto Rican flag, with Lisa Simpson in tears as Marge Simpson held a placard that read, “Unido”. Further, the shot was posted on Twitter, telling people how they could help.
