Super Typhoon Fung-Wong made its landfall on Sunday with heavy rain and strong winds in several parts of the Philippines, killing two people, the Associated Press reported. Locally known as Uwan, the typhoon is the 21st deadliest storm to hit the country this year, which experiences around 20 tropical storms annually.

As rescue operations are underway in Luzon, the country’s most populous island, a myriad of videos capturing the Super Typhoon Fung-Wong flooded the Internet, leaving users stunned. One of the most viral videos shows a strong wave—triggered by the typhoon—hitting a sea-facing property and further flooding it. A few men present at the location can be seen running for their lives.

Another video, shared by the Philippine News Agency on X, shows strong waves smashing into the coastline of Dinapigue, Isabela. As the waves flood several homes and damage property, terrified locals can be seen pleading for rescue. The video also captures pets running around as the chaos unfolds.

“The powerful cyclone is expected to make landfall in Aurora province tonight or early Monday (Nov. 10) morning,” the Philippine News Agency wrote.

Meanwhile, Defence Secretary Gilberto Teodoro has directed residents to follow necessary evacuation orders. “We ask that people preemptively evacuate so we don’t end up conducting rescues at the last minute, which could put the lives of police, soldiers, firefighters, and coast guard personnel at risk,” he said in a public address.

Several airports, including Sangley near the capital Manila and Bicol to the south, have been shut. Meanwhile, Super Typhoon Fung-Wong is expected to head north of the Philippines on Monday morning, while remaining a typhoon is expected to reach western Taiwan on Thursday.
