Menissa S is a Punjabi Scot living in London and she has a message for all the ‘#postrefracists’
It was irony of the biggest kind when people across Britain frantically googled ‘What is EU?’ hours after the referendum. One of the fallouts of the vote was the increase in racism and racist comments.
Responding to Brexit as well as the flying barrage of comments targeted at UK immigrants, Twitter user Menissa S posted a series of messages for all those who voted to leave European Union. One of the reasons people wanted to leave EU was because they held immigrants living in the Britain to have had an impact on UK economy and British people after the 2008 financial crisis.
Menissa, a Punjabi Scot living in London wrote, in 16 tweets, how they (immigrants) have and continue to contribute to the British economy. She also explained how Punjabis contributed to the making of Britain post-1947. “And now some of you #leave voters with your #postrefracism are telling *me* to go home? How dare you. I AM HOME,” she tweeted.
Her tweets went viral especially after JK Rowling retweeted each one of them.
