Global Passport Power Ranking 2025: Passport power reflects a nation’s diplomatic influence and the global mobility it offers its citizens, enabling them to travel more freely across the world. The Global Passport Power Rank 2025 has revealed the most and least powerful passports based on mobility scores.
For the fifth year in a row, the United Arab Emirates retained its top spot, with a mobility score of 179, unchanged from 2024.
South Korea and Japan rose to third and fourth place, up from fourth and fifth, respectively, last year.
Meanwhile, leading European passports—including those of France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Austria, and Switzerland—slipped slightly, with mobility scores dropping from 178 to 174.
At the bottom of the rankings, Afghanistan and Syria once again held the weakest passports. This year, they swapped places, with Afghanistan ranked 102nd and Syria 101st.
India’s passport ranks 73rd globally, tied with Ghana and Gambia. Indian passport holders have visa-free access to 30 countries, while 44 require a visa on arrival, and 124 destinations require a prior visa.
Slipping down a position from the previous year, India’s mobility score has, however, increased slightly to 74 this year, allowing entry to 30 countries without a visa, 44 countries with a visa-on-arrival, and requiring a visa for 124 countries.
