Top 10 most and least powerful passports ranking based on mobility scores in 2025: India’s mobility score increased this year, allowing visa-free access to 30 countries, and requiring visa-on-arrival to 44, and prior visa requirements to 124 destinations. Know where India ranks globally this year.

Global Passport Power Ranking 2025: Passport power reflects a nation’s diplomatic influence and the global mobility it offers its citizens, enabling them to travel more freely across the world. The Global Passport Power Rank 2025 has revealed the most and least powerful passports based on mobility scores.

For the fifth year in a row, the United Arab Emirates retained its top spot, with a mobility score of 179, unchanged from 2024.

While many leading passports saw a slight dip in their mobility scores, Asian countries made significant gains this year.

The Singaporean passport jumped from sixth place in 2024 to second place in 2025, tying with Spain; however, it lost visa-free access to three destinations, which now require a visa.

South Korea and Japan rose to third and fourth place, up from fourth and fifth, respectively, last year.

Meanwhile, leading European passports—including those of France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Austria, and Switzerland—slipped slightly, with mobility scores dropping from 178 to 174.

The United Kingdom and the United States also slid down the list, ranking 8th and 9th. The UK’s score dropped from 174 to 169, while the US fell from 173 to 168.

At the bottom of the rankings, Afghanistan and Syria once again held the weakest passports. This year, they swapped places, with Afghanistan ranked 102nd and Syria 101st.

India’s passport ranks 73rd globally, tied with Ghana and Gambia. Indian passport holders have visa-free access to 30 countries, while 44 require a visa on arrival, and 124 destinations require a prior visa.

Slipping down a position from the previous year, India’s mobility score has, however, increased slightly to 74 this year, allowing entry to 30 countries without a visa, 44 countries with a visa-on-arrival, and requiring a visa for 124 countries.
