Notably, India’s Shaktikanta Das, the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), has been ranked in the top 3 and rated A+ among global central bankers in 2024, for the second consecutive year, in the Global Finance Central Banker Report Cards 2024.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated RBI Governor Shri Shaktikanta Das today, marking his achievement.

Global Finance magazine in its Central Banker Report Cards 2024, newly announced the names of central bank governors from 100 countries across the globe, who received top grades, based on an “A+” to “F” scale for success in areas such as inflation control, economic growth goals, currency stability, and interest rate management.

Shaktikanta Das, the current Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), transitioned to this crucial role after serving in significant positions within the Finance Ministry.

A retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the 1980 batch, Das was the Economic Affairs Secretary from 2015 to 2017 during former finance minister Late Arun Jaitley’s tenure.

Das also contributed as a member of the 15th Finance Commission served as India’s Sherpa to the G20 for a year, and assumed office as RBI Governor in December 2018, succeeding Urjit Patel, with an initial appointment period of three years.

He holds a Master’s degree in History from Delhi University and has furthered his education with a Financial Management course from IIM-Bangalore, along with mid-career training at IIM-Ahmedabad.
