Mobile data consumption increased multifold in India ever since 4G data became accessible. As per the latest Nokia MBiT Index Report, an average user consumed 24.1 GB data every month in 2023.
A lot of people run out of data since most telcos offer data plans with a daily limit. In case you cannot get an add-on data pack via recharge, here is how you can get a data loan from Airtel and Jio.
Jio used to offer an emergency data voucher facility for prepaid users, but this has been discontinued. However, using the MyJio app, one can still get free data using the trick below.
Open the MyJio app > Click on Play&Win > select any of the offer banners and answer simple questions to win data vouchers of up to 6 GB for free.
Do note that to play these games, you have to enter details like your name, phone number, email ID, and more, which will be shared with the partners. There are plenty of games on MyJio that currently offer free 4G data vouchers.
Unlike Jio, Airtel continues to offer data loans for 2G and 4G users. A user can either call ‘52141’ or dial ‘*567*3#’ to get a data loan of 1 GB. This facility is only available for customers who have been with the network for at least three months. The 1 GB data comes with a validity of two days with no support for carry forward.
When you recharge your number with a new data pack, Airtel will deduct 1 GB from that. You won’t be able to take an additional data loan before clearing the outstanding loan.
Hope these tricks help you in situations you are in dire need of data, but cannot recharge your number.
