Zomato is launching Instant Balance, a new feature that allows users to receive change directly into their Zomato Money account when paying cash for orders. In a post on X, CEO Deepinder Goyal said that if a delivery executive doesn’t have exact change, the amount will be credited to the customer's Zomato Money account. He also thanked Tata Group-owned Bigbasket, another delivery service that offers a similar feature that makes getting the exact change back hassle free. The company says the funds in the Zomato Money account can be used for future delivery orders or dining out. While many Indians pay for their orders online, there is still a sizable chunk of the population that prefers cash on delivery. For cash on delivery orders, finding exact change can sometimes be inconvenient. Starting today, our customers can pay delivery partners in cash, and ask for the balance amount to be added instantly to their Zomato Money account. This balance can be used towards future delivery… pic.twitter.com/X7HcGQZird — Deepinder Goyal (@deepigoyal) August 7, 2024 The new feature is really useful in scenarios where an issue arises because the other person does not have any change, but it is still unclear for how long Zomato Money’s account balance can be used. The food delivery service recently introduced another feature that allows customers to remove their past orders from the app. Last month, Zomato CEO unveiled a new app called “District” that will offer services like dining, movie and sports ticketing, live performances, staycations and shopping. Citing Zomato’s dining business, he also said that while Zomato and Blinkit are serving customers at home, the company is now expanding its presence in the outgoing market to take on the likes of BookMyShow.
