Meta is currently testing a new ability on WhatsApp, which allows users to pin more than three chats and more than one message at once. Currently available for select users running on WhatsApp (version 2.24.6.15), users can now pin up to five chats and up to three messages.
First reported by WABetaInfo, this allows users to mark necessary chats and messages at the top so that they won’t miss out on important updates. Users with access to the latest version of WhatsApp beta can now pin up to three messages per chat, and they can also pin up to five chats, which will stay on top of everything else.
The ability to pin chats and messages is not a new phenomenon on WhatsApp, as Meta introduced this capability a while back. However, until now, it was pretty restrictive, as the platform only allowed users to pin one message, and to pin another, a user has to unpin the first one and pin a new one. With the latest version, users can finally pin multiple messages (up to three) at the same time, and they can also now pin up to five chats.
To pin a chat on WhatsApp, long-press on the chat that you would like to pin and select the pin option. Right now, users who have the stable version of WhatsApp can pin up to three chats, and select beta users can pin up to five chats. One needs to unpin an old chat to pin a new chat.
To pin a message on WhatsApp, long-press on the text that you would like to pin and select the pin option. Stable WhatsApp users can only pin a single message per chat, while select beta users can pin up to three messages at once. While pinning a message, users can pin it for a specific period of up to 30 days.
