WhatsApp Channels, the one-way broadcasting feature that allows users to get information and updates from people and organisations around the world, is reportedly getting a new feature. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that enables channel admins to create quiz-based updates and share them with their followers.
Dubbed Channel Quiz, the functionality allows users to answer questions directly within a channel by selecting one of the available options, after which participants will get a real-time response as to whether the answer they chose was correct or not. The feature was previously available to some users, but now it looks like WhatsApp is testing it with the public with the latest beta version for Android and iOS.
When followers are done replying to a quiz, channel admins will be able to see a summary that shows how many people chose a particular option, just like polls. Moreover, they will also be able to see which members participated in the quiz. However, if you are not in the admin’s contact list, personal information like phone number and profile picture will be hidden.
The feature is designed to make Channels more dynamic and interactive, and can also help admins increase activity and reach. Channel Quiz is currently available on the latest WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS and is expected to roll out to the general public in the coming weeks, so you may have to wait a while before your favourite Channel starts posting quizzes.
