vivo Tech Day 2024: Smartphone brand flaunts latest AI features, unique tech offerings

As part of the second edition of the vivo Tech Day 2024, the smartphone brand demonstrated the latest tech features that have made their way into its devices such as its imaging capabilities, AI video algorithm support, cover glass composition, iQOO flashcharge technology, and more.

The event which was held in New Delhi on Tuesday, July 30, also saw vivo reveal key figures mentioned in the third edition of its India Impact Report 2024, highlighting its contributions to the country’s mobile ecosystem over the last 10 years.

According to the report, vivo has manufactured around 150 million smartphones cumulatively in the past 9+ areas at its manufacturing facility in India. Over Rs 400 crore worth of ‘Made in India’ smartphones have been exported by vivo.

“The past decade for vivo India has been defined by impact, resilience and commitment. From our beginnings as a newcomer, we now proudly serve over 120 million vivo smartphones used by proud Indians today,” said Geetaj Channana, head of corporate strategy at vivo India.

Some of the imaging tech on display at the vivo Tech Day 2024 event were its imaging capabilities jointly developed with ZEISS like the T* Coating for better image clarity and reduced light reflection, the ZEISS APO Telephoto lens which allows up to 100x zoom, and the Multifocal Portraits feature that supports five focal lengths for taking professional-quality portraits.

vivo also introduced the next-generation V3+ chip with AI Video algorithm support. Speaking of AI, vivo also presented the XFold3 Pro smartphone that leverages advanced AI tools from Google’s Gemini on Vertex AI to streamline workflows, overcome language barriers, and enhance efficiency.

The cover glass that comes with vivo smartphones were also put to the test, with SCHOTT, a German company known for its innovative glass tech, demonstrating the durability of the cover glass with rigorous Set Drop Tests, Ball Drop Tests, Bending Tests, and Folding Tests.

At the iQOO booth, the vivo-owned brand showcased the world’s first commercial 200W FlashCharge technology that makes it possible to fully charge a 4700mAh battery in just 10 minutes. Additionally, iQOO showcased its Supercomputing Chip Q1, a proprietary gaming chip designed to enhance computing capabilities with 144fps gaming, 900P level of Super Resolution, and Game Frame Interpolation (MEMC).
